PurposeEnable middle-school students to develop and hone a set of lifelong skills to navigate their world, their actions in it, and their reactions to it. Yoga and Mindfulness will incorporate practices of breathwork, movement, meditation and self-study to enrich the lives of the students that participate.

Teacher CommitmentsMrs. McCaughna strives to provide a positive, safe, and rewarding experience for her yoga students. It is her goal to teach students tools that they can use to help to self-regulate their emotions and behavior, and lead enriching lives now and in their futures. She is a 200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher and commits to continuing to study to provide fulfilling experiences for her students.

Dress CodeParticipants in Yoga & Mindfulness should wear clothing that allows them to move comfortably and remain covered as appropriate. Participants in Yoga and Mindfulness are permitted to wear opaque yoga/exercise pants without a fist-length shirt for the class period only. Tank tops must still be three fingers wide, undergarments must be covered, midriff must stay covered and shorts must be fist-length. PE uniforms may be worn for Yoga & Mindfulness. Students that participate in Yoga and Mindfulness are required to follow the school dress code outside of Yoga and Mindfulness class. Students will be permitted to change clothes behind the curtain in the studio classroom (one gender at a time). Other arrangements can be accommodated by request.

GradingStudents will earn grades that will be updated in PowerSchool. Families are encouraged to follow progress in PowerSchool. Progress Reports will be issued once a quarter. Grading is as follows:
45% Formal Assessments Including, but not limited to: tests, major quizzes, projects 45% Informal Assessments Including, but not limited to: quizzes, daily participation grades (dressing out, participating in class, self-assessments, journal checks) 10% Homework
