About Mrs. McCaughna
The 2018-19 school year marks Mrs. McCaughna's 14th year in middle school education. She graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education and also has her Master's Degree from Gardner-Webb in Educational Leadership. She started her career as a seventh grade math teacher at Jay M. Robinson Middle School. In 2009, she made the transition out of the classroom full-time as a Facilitator at Quail Hollow Middle School. At Quail, she has done a variety of different things, but has always worked hard in the best interest of Falcons, their families, and the Falcon Staff. She is proud to work at Quail Hollow and is so excited for the launch of the magnet program this year! She is especially excited for the opportunity to lead the Yoga and Mindfulness A-Day Elective for 6th graders. When she is not leading an elective class, Mrs. McCaughna is the Academic Facilitator at Quail and stays busy coaching teachers to be even better versions of themselves, coordinates the school-wide testing program (EOGs, NCFEs, MAP, Interims, etc!), supports teachers with technology.
Mrs. McCaughna first started practicing yoga in 2000. She started without expectations and quickly fell in love with the practice. She is passionate about yoga and mindfulness and completed her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training from Be Yoga in 2017. She teaches weekly yoga classes outside of school. A lifeling learner, she has been accepted to a 300 hr program and will begin the program in January 2019! She is so excited to bring two of her passions together in her Yoga and Mindfulness class.
When Mrs. McCaughna is not practicing at school or practicing yoga, you can find her spending time with her husband traveling off to a new place, cooking up a new dish, listening to music, or playing with her dog Louie, a rescue pup!
